Sure, love may make your cheeks flush, your lips erupt into a Julia Roberts-esque soul-seducing smile and your eyes sparkle through laughter's teary mists, but at the end of the day, relying on love's endorphins for Polaroid perfection just won't cut it. You need backup. And by backup we mean makeup. Whether you're looking to pack some punch with rogue red lips or keep it neutral with a nude pout, procuring the right product is key. We asked renowned makeup artist Angie Parker to share her tips on how to begin your new life beautifully.

Tell us a little bit about the look you chose to create. What made it work?

Actually, we decided to keep the makeup the same for all the dresses, as we really liked its natural tones. The look was a sheer, even base, not too dewy or too matte. We did a contoured cheek, which gave a very modern, dramatic effect, and a nude lip. The final look was very editorial: It created drama without a lot of makeup.

How can a bride achieve this look on her own? What products do you recommend?

I would definitely recommend a light base that offers good coverage and hides blemishes, but still allows the skin to look natural. I would recommend NARS Sheer Glow Foundation ($42), with a light dusting of NARS Loose Powder ($35). I think a light contour is great to make the cheeks feel more prominent; however, a slight hint of color on the apple of the cheek is also nice. I always love Orgasm by NARS, either in the powder ($26) or stick ($38).

I also think that the eyes need to pop more on the actual day, so mascara and eyeliner are always good. (If you opt for a dramatic eye, remember to play down your other features.)

A nude lip is great for any bride, either in a lipstick or a lip gloss. Here are some suggestions for both, all by NARS:

Belle de Jour lipstick ($24)
Honolulu Honey lipstick ($24)
Turkish Delight lip gloss ($24)
Striptease lip gloss ($24)
Giza lip gloss ($24)

Which three products are wedding day must-haves?

1) A great blush

2) A great lip color

3) Blotting paper! It's a good way to reduce shine without adding layers of makeup.

What is your ultimate bridal beauty tip?

Don't go to a store counter to have your makeup done, and definitely have a run-through before your big day.
