What was your inspiration for this collection?

Believe it or not, just people. My goodness, I live in New York City! I go to the library, and just seeing people there inspires me. Especially for Amsale [the collection], seeing the way people wear things really solidifies everything I do. I see the girls on the street wearing print dresses or street dresses, and I'm inspired.

I would also say old books and old movies. And Balenciaga will always be my idol and inspiration.

How is it different from what we've seen in the past?

I've been using the little white dresses for the past four seasons and the response is fantastic. People are also using them as a regular summer party dress depending on the event, so they're really versatile. They're not just for small, casual weddings.

What kind of girl covets this collection?

Kenneth Pool is inspired by things for the glamour girl. She just needs everything to stand out and has no fear of being in the spotlight. She doesn't worry about whether people think things are too big or practical; wondering whether it's enough is more her attitude. When I think of the Christos bride, I'm inspired by things that are very feminine, but not girly. She's very romantic and her setting is possibly at a farm, at an estate or somewhere that expresses her love of nature and tradition. She wants to keep her dress and pass it on to her daughter. When I think of Amsale, I'm inspired by things that are very urban. She knows exactly what she wants. Audrey Hepburn is her idol, and she's got that clean, sophisticated, minimalist silhouette, and wants to get married in a loft.

What is the finishing touch for any bridal look?

With the exception of Kenneth Pool, a lot of my dresses are really left to the bride to overdress or underdress, and you can really wear a lot of things with them. I don't wear jewelry because if I wear something all day long I think about it, so a minimalist look is really my thing. Either that or a big, bold piece. Accessories are really like a haircut to me; they're so important, and you have to wear something that looks good on you.
