From boyfriend blazers and brogues to reinterpreted suit separates and large watches, menswear-inspired looks have been making a statement in 2010, and bridal wear is no exception. At this year's Bridal Market, runways were peppered with black accents and subtle tuxedo-style touches. Whether you’re looking for the full modern menswear ensemble or just some simple accessories, it’s never been easier for today’s bride to borrow from the boys.

Priscilla of Boston’s Vineyard Collection

This season, even the most feminine of cuts got a menswear update.  The collared neckline on the Annette gown gives an instant upgrade to a classic full-skirted A-line, while the short length adds a modern edge ($1,275; priscillaofboston.com). Pair with black bow tie peep-toe heels, like Kate Spade’s Graham T-strap sandals, to finish off with a girly tuxedo touch ($325; saks.com).

Amsale

While this Kennedy gown may look traditional, it’s the straight collar detail on the back that really adds that something extra ($3,850; amsale.com). Add a chunky, chain-linked bracelet, like this one from Kenneth Jay Lane, for a masculine contrast ($410; net-a-porter.com).

J. Crew

Take a cue from the classic style of Katharine Hepburn in a simple washed crepe, floor-length Aveline dress from J. Crew. With a V-neck reminiscent of a suit jacket lapel and clean lines, this gown is made to accessorize ($750; jcrew.com). Pick a tasseled necklace ($50; jcrew.com) and play around with the large wristwatch trend—try the rose shade of Michael Kors’ chronograph watch, instead of the predictable gold or black ($250; net-a-porter.com).

Priscilla of Boston’s Vineyard Collection

This chic Tatum sheath gets the tuxedo treatment with a wide cummerbund waist contrasted against soft lace ($2,350; priscillaofboston.com). Look to etsy.com for unique ideas on accessories, and wrap a vintage pocket watch necklace into a bracelet ($39.50; etsy.com/shop/poppenkraal). Finish the look with classic flat brogues—perfect for the ultra-modern bride ($180; net-a-porter.com).

Oscar de la Renta

Care for something that allows you a bit of wearability? Take a page from classic womenswear and don a skirt and button-down à la Oscar de la Renta. We love a crisp white shirt worn with the green skirt shown here, but a colored blouse with a long white skirt is just as chic. (Price available upon request; oscardelarenta.com)

Douglas Hannant

For a truly menswear-inspired look, ditch the gown altogether and go for a sleek pantsuit designed to broadcast a fierce, no-holds-barred attitude. We love this white silk tuxedo suit by Douglas Hannant because it demonstrates your fashion cred and showcases your uncompromising commitment to your own personal style.
